Stand-ups reward structure over detail
The instinct in a second language is to over-explain, to make sure the meaning lands. But a stand-up is not the place for that. The format itself is the safety net: yesterday, today, blockers, nothing else.
Use the three-part shape every time
“Yesterday: shipped X. Today: working on Y. Blocker: none.” Repeating the same shape daily means you spend zero energy deciding how to structure it, only what goes in each slot.
Repeat blockers without new detail
“Same as yesterday, still blocked on the API access, still waiting on [name].” A repeated blocker does not need a new explanation each day, it needs to stay visible until it is resolved.
