How you enter and exit a call shapes how people remember your presence in it, even more than what you said in the middle.
Joining without derailing the conversation
“Sorry I am late, please carry on, I will catch up.” This signals you do not need a recap right now, which lets the meeting keep moving instead of pausing for you.
Leaving without an awkward exit
“I need to drop for another call, please send me anything I miss.” Naming the reason briefly and offering a way to stay looped in makes an early exit feel considerate rather than dismissive.
