You are translating twice, not once
Explaining technical work in English is already a translation. Explaining it to a non-technical audience is a second one, at the same time, and the two often pull against each other.
Lead with impact, not mechanism
“In plain terms, this means customers will see it load twice as fast.” A non-technical audience needs the outcome first. The mechanism is optional detail they can ask for if they want it.
Offer the depth as a choice
“Happy to go deeper on the technical side after, for now here is the impact.” This respects both audiences in the room, the ones who want detail and the ones who just need the headline.
